The Project of the Week is...

The Guest Bathroom! With the back patio complete, it was time for Paul to move on to the next project. And I am quite happy about this week's project being the guest bathroom. The peeled up linoleum is gone, the gold swirled vanity top is history. As of now the bathroom walls have been painted purple and the tile is in and grouted. Although Paul has to work a midnight shift tonight and will be exhausted tomorrow morning, I'm sure by the time I get home from work on Monday the bathroom will be totally completed.
While Paul was hard at work on the bathroom this week, I attended an alumni reception for Mercer Law and went to the company picnic at the Jacksonville Zoo with a good friend. Not quite as productive as Paul, but fun nonetheless.

Photo Shoot

I've been wanting to get a good photo of Stell and Tups for some time now, so I did a mini photo shoot yesterday. Of course they didn't want to pose pretty for me and my memory card was just about full, but here's a few of the photos. Stella wants to go to NYC to find an agent now. Mr. Tups would rather do commercials than print work.

Busy Schedules Are Back

With the warm weather here and I am back to work, we are back to being busy. Paul is waging war against our weeds (the weeds currently have the better strategic position) and working on getting the pool and pond ready for summer. Stella has been testing the pool for us regularly. This evening we'll be heading into Jacksonville to meet up with Josh (the bro) and Steph (friend and the bro's girlfriend) for a bbq. We celebrated my birthday again, on the real day, this week. Paul made a delicious surf n' turf dinner and a gluten free birthday cake. I also had nice office birthday with a breakfast and flowers. I had an event at the law school last night, a beer tasting for graduating students and local attorneys, and as an added perk we now have a huge cooler full of beer in our garage - now we just need the fridge space for it. This will certainly come in handy for Paul's birthday party. Although between meetings, networking, and work we haven't had time for grocery shopping this week, it's been fun and with a lot of awesome weather.

A Very Happy Early Birthday

Paul spent all of his free time last week finishing the brick patio (which looks great and photos to come), re-doing his grill area, and building raised garden boxes for the side yard. Our backyard is starting to look really good and ready for summer! Seeds for peppers, lavender, swiss chard, and rosemary are starting to sprout so those will have a new home in the side yard today.

Somehow in the midst of all his backyard work, Paul planned a very fun birthday celebration for me. My birthday isn't until next Thursday, but because we'll both be at work we celebrated early. We got up early and grabbed breakfast at Carolyn's and then picked up our rental fishing boat. We brought a big picnic with us and explored the water around Cumberland Island and walked around a bit in St. Mary's. It was a super fun day that we ended with a nice dinner at 29 South, complete with free dessert (2 of them!).

We'll soon be planning more birthday fun with a birthday backyard bbq for Paul!

Happy Easter!!

It's warm, sunny, and breezy - a fabulous day for Easter! Although we're not doing much to celebrate this year (Joy dyed 3 eggs and made cupcakes for Paul to take to work) it is still a nice and relaxing day. In between his two shifts today Paul is putting in the finishing bricks to the extension of the pool deck by our bedroom door. It is quite the project, but it solves two problems in one: since the hose is there and its a high traffic area we could never keep grass growing, and we had nowhere else on the pool where our conversation patio furniture fits without killing the grass underneath. While Paul toils in the sun, Stella is eating the fish food from the pond and taking dips in the pool (not quite warm enough for human swimming). Once this project is complete we'll be one step closer to our perfect backyard!
