Week 37

Doing well and being productive. Finally getting the bags packed for the hospital. Apparently I snore now which is keeping Paul up at night - must be a new pregnancy thing. Everyone said I'd be miserable by this point and ready to have her out, but I have to say that aside from some annoying swelling I feel really good.

These photos are from the very end of week 37, beginning of week 38.

Happy Valentine's Day at Week 36

Paul has recuperated and we can actually spend time together again. I'm starting to get regularly swollen feet and ankles, and loosing my patience with students at work. We celebrated Valentine's Day with pizza and beer as we always do, but since I'm not going off the gluten-free diet at all while pregnant we had to go somewhere that had GF pizza for me. We saw our movie at the theatre this year instead of from the couch since we won't be able to go out to movies much once the little one arrives.

The photos are actually from the beginning of week 37 (Feb 20th) but we got the timing wrong so we took some early into week 37 and late in week 37.

Week 35 - avoiding the flu

On his way home from Ireland and PA, Paul got the flu. Luckily he was able to go to the doctor
his way home and immediately quarantined himself to the guest bedroom. You would have thought we were trying to irradicate the ebola virus from all of the anti-viral stuff I bought at CVS - $100 worth of germ killing goodies!

Poor Paul was absolutely miserable and after a week of not seeing each other we still couldn't get within 15 feet of each other. Even Mr. Tups ended up getting hurt too - pulling a muscle in his neck so badly that he didn't move from his blanket on the floor all day and having to take muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatories for two weeks.

We were a bit of a sad state this week, but everyone is resting and healing.

Week 34 - the passing of a loved one & Paul heads to Ireland

The plan was for Paul to go with his family on their annual trip to Dublin for the golf tournament in honor of his late grandfather. On Tuesday night we got the news that his Uncle Willy had passed. Willy was not doing well, with severe COPD, but knowing it is coming still doesn't really make it any easier.

The family was supposed to leave for Dublin the following day, so needless to say the plans got a little crazy. Because Paul had not seen his grandmother in Dublin in years and she had not been doing well, he and his brother and his niece still made the trip. Of course mother nature made it as difficult as possible, canceling their flight as they were on the taxi way ready to take off due to a blizzard. They had to rent a car and drive to a hotel in Jersey to spend the night b/c all of the airport hotels were booked and taxis weren't driving in the blizzard. They finally got out the next night, but had to connect through Frankfurt to get to Dublin.

Paul had a nice visit with his relatives who he hadn't seen in years and got his butt whooped in the golf tournament out on the links (his family is full of really great golfers). Since I was already 34 weeks I went to stay with my parents for the week and just so happened to get to spend time with some old friends who were in St. Augustine and Ormond. My mom and I also went to Michele's shower for baby Ethan over the weekend. We also finished up some sewing for the baby's room.

Paul ended up staying in PA for an extra two days for his Uncle's viewing, but due to another set of bad weather he had to head home on Wednesday before the burial. Uncle Willy came over from Ireland for a visit when Paul was a kid, and ended up staying with them ever since. He will certainly be missed.
